Today’s Ask Dale question is from Worth. He tells us — I’ve been with T-Mobile for several years and moved to another provider.  The account was closed and paid off, but my phone is locked so my new provider can’t connect it to their service.  I have requested numerous times for T-Mobile to unlock my phone. I don’t know if they are dragging me along or are they incompetent.

The issue is that T-Mobile limits how many phones you can unlock every year.

According to the company’s policy, it will only unlock two phones per account every year. You told us your phone was on a family plan with two previously unlocked phones. That means you may have to wait until you are eligible.

Wireless providers will unlock your phone if you ask, as long as you meet eligibility requirements.  You can also pay someone to unlock your phone. But do your research, so you don’t get scammed.
