Three for Thursday 02.02.2023

Welcome to TrustDALE's Three For Thursday with Consumer Investigator Dale Cardwell.

Please, pardon me, and thank you. Angie and I recently took our first real vacation in three years. It was a cruise - and it was fantastic! I noticed how incredibly polite everyone was; not just the staff that's paid to be nice, but the very eclectic guests from all over the world. I believe abundance was the reason. Plenty to eat and drink, amazing views and a break from everyday concerns. Conversely, I believe people begin losing their politeness when they encounter scarcity. Less food, more worry, and the struggle for resources. Does the TrustDALE certified company employee who comes to your home or business introduce themselves with a smile? Do they explain their estimates in a manner that gives you confidence and assurance? I believe they do. If they don't, I want to know about it. When you see me, I hope you can say "thank you," and I'll say you're very welcome!

Today's Ask Dale question comes from Reid, who wants to know if he can file his taxes for free.

Todays Lesson on how to be a Savvy Consumer!

Today's seven-point lesson is on judging the value of a warranty.

Fast - Do they want your money NOW? Paying in full up front is dangerous without a clear and enforceable warranty.

Funds - Is the investment required relevant to the promised payoff? Sound warranties don't necessarily protect you from getting tricked in a pre-purchase negotiation.

Found - A person who intends to rip you off will make certain he can't be found after he gets your money. A good-looking warranty is worthless if you can't find the seller afterward.

Define - Your deal by comparing product, Offer and Price. Confirming these variables will make a warranty less necessary.

Ensure - Your deal with an Ethical negotiation, an Equitable contract, and an Effective Guarantee. Ethical negotiation and a fair written agreement should be backed by an effective guarantee. This is the irreplaceable marketplace trinity.

Authenticate - Your deal by requesting References, checking reviews, and examining government and watchdog reports. Thin warranties are often exposed in reviews.

Legitimize - your deal by determining if the company has a business license, liability insurance and is Lawsuit and background checked. Companies that follow these rules improve your odds of being treated fairly but it does not guarantee it!
