Three for Thursday 06.22.2023

Welcome to TrustDALE's Three For Thursday with Consumer Investigator Dale Cardwell.

Who is the best Dad ever? Clearly there's a lot of debate. I recently saw dozens of tributes posted, claiming dozens and dozens of Dads to be the absolute best. You know what I found refreshing? I didn't see one challenge to anyone's claim. "You were always there for me" was repeated a few times, along with "I'll never forget the time you..." I'm of course, partial to Bill Cardwell. He never claimed to be perfect, but he never failed to show up and keep trying. In fact, I think the greatest tribute we can give our moms, dads and other caregivers is that in the face of lots of challenges, they just kept showing up. Let's take a minute and appreciate this one area of public discourse where we don't sling arrows. Congrats on having the best Dad ever. My guess is your moms are pretty special too!

Todays Lesson on how to be a Savvy Consumer!

Today's seven-point lesson is on battling an institution that appears to be all-powerful.

Fast - Do they want your money NOW? Paying 100% in advance makes it very hard to fight an intrenched system.

Funds - Is the investment required relevant to the promised payoff? The more legit the entity, the less likely you'll be offered something for nothing. If you are, the king might have no clothes.

Found - A person who intends to rip you off will make certain he cannot be found after he gets your money. Institutions become institutions in part because they can be found.

Define - Your deal by comparing product, Offer and Price. This step is your ounce of prevention.

Ensure - Your deal with an Ethical negotiation, an Equitable contract, and an Effective Guarantee. Most institutions respect this step. I urge you to keep great records!

Authenticate - Your deal by requesting References, checking reviews, and examining government and watchdog reports.Institutions are sensitive to these indicators.

Legitimize - your deal by determining if the company has a business license, liability insurance and is lawsuit and background checked. Institutions meet these standards, but you still must document. See Ensure above.
