Three for Thursday 09.03.2020
Welcome to TrustDALE's Three For Thursday with Consumer Investigator Dale Cardwell.
I want to brag on someone. Her name is Jackie Lord and she is our Consumer Care Manager at TrustDALE. Jackie is the point person for every consumer who contacts us about a problem with a company, and about 70% of those are NOT TrustDALE Certified companies. Yes, we try to solve those problems as well. And the best part of our $10,000 Make It Right Guarantee, (in addition to Jackie's demeanor and talent) is that unlike most warranties, we solve problems hours or days, not weeks or months! And this service is absolutely free! Thanks for being part of our community!

Today's ride sharing services have made it incredibly easy to jump in a car. But you still need to be careful who you jump in a car with, because this (is part two of what ) could happen to you!

Today's seven-point lesson on: Hiring a person or a company for an unconventional job (such as pine straw spreading or lot clean up)
Fast - Do they want your money NOW? Never pay money in advance for an odd job and get a written, detailed estimate in advance.
Funds - Get at least two estimates. Low estimates often result in substandard performance.
Found - A person who intends to rip you off will make certain he can't be found after he gets your money. Odd job contractors are famous for taking payment and not being found. Again, no payment in advance.
Define - Products, Offers and Prices. Again, two or even better, three detailed estimates. If it's over $250, ask for an itemized estimate.
Ensure - Your deal with an Ethical negotiation, an Equitable contract and an Effective Guarantee. Yard contractors are famous for wanting a "handshake" agreement. Get it in writing!
Authenticate - Your deal by requesting References, checking Reviews, and examining government and watchdog reports. If they tell you they worked for your neighbor or someone down the street, get that neighbor or person down the street's name and contact information and call them!
Legitimize your deal by determining if the company has a business license, liability insurance and is Lawsuit and background checked.A lot of yard contractors don't have business licenses or liability insurance. If there is any risk or danger involved whatsoever, don't take that chance.
