Three for Thursday 09.16.2021
Welcome to TrustDALE's Three For Thursday with Consumer Investigator Dale Cardwell.
Maybe it's time for a re-set. In 1998, my neighborhood was hit by a devastating tornado. Only one person died, but more than 300 homes were damaged or destroyed. There was, however, a brief opportunity for neighbors to band together and request the power company to bury our power lines like other modern neighborhoods. We couldn't mobilize the will to do it. The pandemic has devastated our food service industry and restaurants simply can't attract enough workers. I believe it's time for a re-set. Stop the ridiculousness of customers providing tips that serve as the main source of their income and pay them a living wage. This of course, opens Pandora's box. My informal survey shows most if not all TrustDALE certified companies are paying higher wages to attract and retain good people, and it's still a struggle. Maybe it's time for a reset.

Ask Dale
Today's Ask Dale question comes from Donna, who wants to know if I recommend any "rent-to-own" platforms. This is also worth watching.
Todays Lesson on how to be a Savvy Consumer!
Today's seven-point lesson is on how to avoid making a major investment you don't understand.
Fast - Do they want your money NOW? My rule of thumb, never give anyone any amount you're uncomfortable with IF you don't understand the terms.
Funds - Is the investment required relevant to the promised payoff?Too good to be true vibes are almost always followed by a sense of regret.
Found - A person who intends to rip you off will make certain he can't be found after he gets your money. These people usually carry or create fake credentials. If you feel like you're risking your money, make absolutely certain you can find the person and their office before you commit.
Define - Your deal by comparing Product, Offer and Price. The more you know about what you want, the better you'll be able to gauge what you're being offered.
Ensure - Your deal with an Ethical negotiation, an Equitable contract, and an Effective Guarantee. If you don't understand the contract, ask an independent expert in the field to explain it to you.
