Today’s question is from Emily.  She tells us — I received an estimate from a company to pressure-wash my home and the company also included a copy of its insurance paperwork.  What do I need to look for, to make sure they’re covered?

Insurance regulations vary by state, but in general, you want to be certain the company’s insurance will protect you in case something bad happens.

Imagine this — you hire a company, and one of their workers is hurt while on your property. The company’s insurance should cover this but if the company is uninsured or under-insured, you could be liable!

Always check a company’s insurance coverage before you hire them! Look for things like liability, property, and workers’ compensation insurance.  These typically cover accidents, injuries, and damage.  If you are not sure, verify the coverage directly with the insurance company.  and, if the company refuses to provide its insurance policy, do not hire them!

That is what I do as part of my seven-point investigative process.  I personally verify that every company on trustdale.com has the required amount of insurance needed to protect you.  Remember, when you hire one of my partners through trustdale.com, you also get the added benefit of my $10,000 Make It Right Guarantee!
