Todays Lesson on how to be a Savvy Consumer!
Joining a Homeowner's Association:
Fast - Do they want your money NOW?
Funds - Is the amount of investment far smaller than the promised pay-off? That's a formula for too good to be true!
Found - A person who intends to rip you off will make certain he can't be found after he gets your money.
Define - Your deal by comparing Products, Offers and Prices. Test drive friends' cars to determine what make and model you want before you ever begin negotiation.
Ensure - Your deal with an Ethical negotiation, an Equitable contract and an Effective Guarantee. Homeowner's association contracts are famous for being rigid. Be certain to read it in its entirety before you agree to join. If you find language that makes you uncomfortable, seriously consider passing on the property - because you won't get pass from the governing authority if you disagree with it. Also, consider joining the governing board. It's a sacrifice of your time but knowing what's going on with your association is a lot better than getting surprised by a decision you don't like and didn't have a role in making.
Authenticate - Your deal by requesting References, checking Reviews, and examining government and watchdog reports.
Legitimize - Your deal by determining if the company has a business license, liability insurance and is Lawsuit and background checked.
