Best Buy Troubles: A Tale of Missing Merchandise

I’m consumer investigator Dale Cardwell, and this could happen to you.

George Robbins, an 86-year-old man, recently found himself in a frustrating situation with Best Buy. He purchased an Apple desktop computer in-store, expecting it to be delivered to his home. When the box arrived, it felt unusually light for a 23-pound computer.

Upon closer inspection, George noticed heavy tape securing both ends of the box and the absence of the cardboard zipper. When he opened it, the box was empty—no computer, no cables, nothing.

Due to his age and lack of a device with a camera, George couldn’t appear on camera for the interview. Ironically, one of the perks of the new computer was its built-in camera.

After discovering the empty box, George took it back to the store, only to be told that he was responsible for the missing computer. Adding insult to injury, Best Buy’s credit card company insisted that George still had to pay for the undelivered computer.

That's when TrustDALE stepped in. We contacted Best Buy on George’s behalf to explain his predicament. Fortunately, the same day, George received news of a refund.

If you’ve got a consumer problem you can’t solve, contact me. Maybe our team can help.
