Checking out Charities
For many of us, the holidays include giving to our favorite organizations. Whether you choose a local nonprofit or a national charity, giving of your time or money can be very rewarding. But what if you discover a new non profit and want to contribute to it? It’s always wise to do some research first. While many non profits are trustworthy, there seem to be a few that pop up and leave donors with less-than-ideal experiences.

You can start with an internet search. IRS.gov, charitynavigator.org and guidestar.org all provide info on non profits, from IRS approval to rankings and tax forms. Another good resource is the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance: give.org. Don’t forget to check TrustDale.com as well – click on your city and then choose the nonprofit category.

Have a great nonprofit you’re proud to support? Leave a comment on our Facebook page and tell us about it!
