Three for Thursday 02.10.2022

Welcome to TrustDALE's Three For Thursday with Consumer Investigator Dale Cardwell.

What's your go-to consumer help platform? If you're reading this, it might be TrustDALE and I really, really appreciate that. I'm intrigued and feel sorry for people who think negative feedback sites like Yelp, or data-mining sites like Angi and Home Advisor are their only options. I was looking for a door refinishing company a couple of weeks ago and stumbled across a "bait" website that looked like a local company but was actually a data-mining funnel for Angi and Home Advisor. I know because that's who called me the same day and emailed me again a week later. You see, when they get your information, they can sell it to whomever they want and as many vendors as they want. If you visit TrustDALE, YOU pick the company you want to call or email, and you're in control of the conversation and setting the appointment. I believe it's worth telling your friends and thank you for doing so!

Ask Dale

Todays Lesson on how to be a Savvy Consumer!

Today's seven-point lesson is how to respond to buyer's remorse:

Fast - Do they want your money NOW? Paying in full, up front can often create buyer's remorse. Finding out you didn't pay too much and that you got an excellent product can abate it.

Funds - Is the investment required relevant to the promised payoff? You find out the deal that seemed to be unfairly in your favor is suddenly in the vendor's favor, chances are the vender has made certain you have no recourse.

Found - A person who intends to rip you off will make certain he can't be found after he gets your money. You will always feel remorse if a thief has taken your money and can't be found.

Define - Your deal by comparing product, Offer and Price. This step helps avoid buyer's remorse.

Ensure - Your deal with an Ethical negotiation, an Equitable contract, and an Effective Guarantee. Taking care to do this properly can provide ways in which a refund can be pursued, or a trade can be offered.

Authenticate - Your deal by requesting References, checking reviews, and examining government and watchdog reports. Again, an ounce of prevention is the best cure. The fear of an unhappy customer on social media can, however, move a good company to seek a solution.

Legitimize - your deal by determining if the company has a business license, liability insurance and is Lawsuit and background checked. Companies that don't have these musts are not going to care you feel buyer's remorse.
