Three for Thursday 03.18.2021
Welcome to TrustDALE's Three For Thursday with Consumer Investigator Dale Cardwell.
Leashes, treats and patience. Regardless our position in life, we all must deal with these. Our dog Daisy loves treats and will endlessly stare my wife in the face until she gets one. Conversely, she is oblivious to the fact she is on a leash until I let her know we are on a walk not a smelk (smelling tour). Our lives are bound by a continuum of positive and negative stimuli, and the lesson we can learn from both is patience. Patience to wait on multiple estimates. Patience to wait on that seasonal sale. Patience to think about what you're about to say before you say it. Patience to know maturity can lead to better outcomes. How many times have you made a mistake as a consumer because you wanted it right then and there? This process never ends.

Today's seven-point lesson on dealing with an unreasonable party (From our veteran's home being threatened with foreclosure described above).
Fast - Do they want your money NOW? Always get a receipt and make a copy of your payment.
Funds - Is the investment required relevant to the promised payoff? Balloon payment plans can be dangerous.
Found - A person who intends to rip you off will make certain he can't be found after he gets your money. Unreasonable parties don't like to be found. They prefer email or even fax.
Define - Your deal by comparing Product, Offer and Price. Know exactly what you're getting. If it's above your head, get an attorney to review or an expert in the industry.
Ensure - Your deal with an Ethical negotiation, an Equitable contract, and an Effective Guarantee. This is where real and tricky live. Unreasonable parties often have poison pills in their agreements. Circumstances that make it difficult for you to comply. Again, have an attorney or an expert in the industry review expensive and complicated agreements.
Authenticate - Your deal by requesting References, checking reviews, and examining government and watchdog reports. Unreasonable parties are often called out in social media and watchdog publications. Search those resources before committing!
Legitimize - your deal by determining if the company has a business license, liability insurance and is Lawsuit and background checked. Unreasonable parties that intend to take advantage of you may not be legitimate (such as rogue collection agencies). Find out if they're legitimate before engaging in negotiation.
