Three for Thursday 11.11.2021
Welcome to TrustDALE's Three For Thursday with Consumer Investigator Dale Cardwell.
You may have noticed I never write about politics, and for good reason. We've lost the ability to have a conversation. I hope this is temporary, but in the meantime - I'd like to pay homage to former Senator Max Cleland. Max never met a stranger, and from my perspective, was the last politician in the modern era who wouldn't go "there," meaning the scorched earth where the candidate describes his opponent as an enemy and unamerican. Republicans and Democrats alike are eulogizing Max for his ability bounce back from tragedy and defeat, to live and contribute another day. I personally remember Max sending me an encouraging note after my failed run for the U.S. Senate. We need more gentlemen and gentlewomen like Max Cleland. Rest in peace my friend.

Todays Lesson on how to be a Savvy Consumer!
Today's seven-point lesson is on signing a contract you're not comfortable with. (For example, no one understands their mortgage closing documents, so you have a closing attorney. How should you proceed in other written agreements)?
Fast - Do they want your money NOW? Immediate payment without investigation is almost never a good idea.
Funds - Is the investment required relevant to the promised payoff? Contracts without clear benefits and responsibilities are dangerous. Don't sign until you have all the facts.
Found - A person who intends to rip you off will make certain he can't be found after he gets your money. Unsolicited door to door sales people too often represent companies you'll never be able to contact.
Define - Your deal by comparing Product, Offer and Price. You must demand clear payment responsibility and benefit to you before you sign.
Ensure - Your deal with an Ethical negotiation, an Equitable contract, and an Effective Guarantee. Have an expert review the proposed contract and explain it to you prior to signing.
Authenticate - Your deal by requesting References, checking reviews, and examining government and watchdog reports. Finding sterling, genuine reviews will go a long way in making you feel better about signing a complicated contract.
