TrustDale Celebrates Ribbon Cutting at The Childrens VillageOn Friday, February 21, a long year of fundraising and construction came to fruition.  The ribbon cutting of the new Crisis Stabilization Cottage and Multi-Court Recreational Facility on the campus of The Children’s Village in Union City was officially celebrated. Staff, local dignitaries, community supporters, Consumer Advocate Dale Cardwell, and several TrustDale partners were in attendance.

The new residential and outdoor structures are valuable additions to the ministry of The Children’s Village at Christian City.  They are the direct result of generous and wide support from the local and Metro Atlanta community. Major collaborators included The John and Polly Sparks Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Resurgens Charitable Foundation, Delta Air Lines, Georgia Power employees, The Gray Ghosts, Square Foot Ministry, Tim Hudson Family Foundation, Consumer Advocate Dale Cardwell, and TrustDale certified businesses.

The Crisis Stabilization Cottage at 5,200 square feet will provide a safe haven for abandoned, abused, or otherwise homeless children. The cottage will also be used for children placed at The Children’s Village via the National Safe Place program which provides protection for runaways and children who have been removed from their home by a parent/guardian. The Multi-Court Recreational Facility will provide space for outdoor activities including basketball, volleyball, tennis, and soccer.

Dale Cardwell and his TrustDale certified businesses supported the project with donated funds, sponsorship of the fall Golf Fore Kids Tournament and in-kind materials that included gutters, windows, electrical wiring, and natural gas services.

“Seeing this project finally completed for the children was truly an exciting day,” said Dale. “I’m so grateful to have been part of the process and I’m especially grateful to my TrustDale businesses who contributed so generously with their donations and construction materials.”

The Children’s Village opened its doors to children in crisis in 1965. The campus consists of 30 developed acres at 7345 Red Oak Road in Union city, GA.  They currently operate four, full-time residential cottages, one crisis stabilization cottage, Administration Center, Training Room and Therapy/Counseling Center, and Transitional Living Cottage for children who graduate from the program and are employed full-time or in school. More information about The Children’s Village can be found at The Children's Village at Christian City.
