A cookware giant is taking some heat for false advertisement.

We all have one of these in our kitchens: a Pyrex glass measuring cup. But Pyrex’s parent company, Instant Brand, is taking some heat from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

And here’s why.

During the pandemic, when lots of people discovered baking at home, Pyrex launched a promotion saying, “Pyrex bakeware is as American as apple pie.”

But as it turns out, the FTC says that some Pyrex glassware advertised as “proudly made in the USA” was actually made elsewhere.

Apparently, their ability to meet the demand for certain bakeware sold on Amazon, more than 100,000 units, didn’t measure up. So they shifted their manufacturing to China to keep up.

Now don’t panic! Even if you purchased Pyrex from Amazon, nothing is wrong or defective with your bakeware!

But advertising a product as being made in the USA when it is not? Well… that IS sketchy. It’s also a big no-no. So the FTC is requiring a few things of Pyrex.

They want them to update their advertising… and pay a fine of just under $130,000 (about $1 per unit sold).

Do you think that’s fair? Let us know!
